Building Better Brains

The #1 Exercise for Better Reading, Writing & Focus

unnamed

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

It doesn’t have to take hours.

…or years.

And it definitely doesn’t have to be this hard all the time.

Instead of more practice of the same thing and constant frustration – get your child out of the slow lane with reading, learning and attention issues.

Strengthen those weak areas of the brain that are causing the breakdown in so many areas.

Here’s my #1 favourite (yet simple exercise) to train the brain.

The Lazy 8.

A lot of exercises are powerful and there is definitely not one single exercise that will erase all your child’s difficulties.

But this one synchronizes your child’s system for optimal focus, emotional regulation, comprehension, organization and coordination.

You might wonder ‘but how’?

Balance, posture and coordination skills impact the brain’s ability to process, retain, focus and self-regulate.

These skills are foundational to optimal learning and focus.

The Lazy 8:

  • Improves communication between the 2 brain hemispheres
  • Increases clear thinking, focus and it has a calming effect
  • Improve visual tracking, reading speed & eye muscle coordination
  • Improves fine motor coordination and hand-writing
  • Calms the nervous system
  • Improves memory and processing
  • Excellent for dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia and SPD.

This is the exercise I use when parents are skeptical that a customized brain training program like the Full Potential Formula will help their child.

How To Do The Lazy 8?

  1. Child should be sitting so the centre of the two circles is directly in middle of the body. Non-dominant hand should remain on the paper in the middle of the two circles at the bottom of the page.
  1. Child traces the lazy 8, being sure to always come up through the middle and going up to the left around and down the outside of the left circle and then following through the 8 by coming up back up around the right circle and then down.
  1. This should be completed 5 days a week for 6 months.
